The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Chose the Wrong Popular RPG Show Song

This latest animated series, the most recent animated series by the beloved role-playing group, revealed an exciting opening credits. It showcases the beloved cast of misfits, outcasts, and criminals kicking ass and making their mark, while also hinting at multiple agonizing backstories for characters including the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and another actor's orc warlock, Fjord.

All in all, the intro looks stunning. But I couldn't help feeling that an element was lost in the music selection.

This sequence uses "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional composition created by producer and singer Colm McGuinness. This piece originating from the soundtrack album of the same name, the second release put out by the production company's music division their music brand. It's a great sentimental option, and I believe that fans of the sequel series will appreciate its presence.

But for me, The series' opening doesn't quite capture the excitement and energy that accompanied the show's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by musician the artist, became an immediate hit in my view when it was first revealed in 2015, and it only got better when cast member Sam Riegel wrote words to the melody for the series' animated intro in the later year.

Including singing from Ashley Johnson, another performer, Travis Willingham, as well as the writer, the song was memorable and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't seen the follow-up series yet, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my device. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an episode of adventurous fun.

The show's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the same chords for me. It's a grand composition, but from what I know of this party, I can't help but feel that its mood is a little off.

Naturally, the creators has stated that the animated show will have a few changes and differences from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its intro seems to be one of them.

This animated adventure will be released on the streaming service from Nov. 19. For those eager until then, or wish to prepare to get to know the characters of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are accessible on Spotify and the video site.
