The former Liverpool manager admits a return to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024, remarked that returning someday is a possibility. Klopp, post a game-changing nine-year spell featuring Champions League success and the Premier League crown for three decades, currently occupies roles as head of global soccer within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

They secured England's top flight last season, yet numerous supporters holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the possibility that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he explained to his interviewer: “I stated I refuse to lead a different club in England. Which implies in case it's my former club...absolutely. It's plausible.”

“At 58 years old, that means I could make the decision later on, I don’t know. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. Luckily, it's not necessary. I can just see what lies ahead.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

When asked about which situations must arise to bring him back to the touchline, he revealed he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; I avoid standing during downpours through long matches; I'm glad to skip media briefings repeatedly each week or doing numerous chats a week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, but sitting in a restaurant with the players having a nice chat, is pleasant. We won a lot of games meaning regularly great spirits at the club. Remaining with me is Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears for example.”

Praise for His Successor

Klopp was full of praise of the current boss, acknowledging his role for the tweaks that won the league in the previous season. They've been defeated four in a row in every contest following significant transfers, but he rubbished the notion of it representing the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward such as Wirtz, critics will regret if spoken against. An outstanding player. The French striker, incredible player. They have a strong well-judged squad. No need for concern regarding the Reds, things will improve.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

The manager expressed deep feeling on the loss of Diogo Jota, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, and its impact on Liverpool. Jota died tragically in a vehicle collision with his brother this past summer.

“Can you substitute a person like him? It goes beyond his on-field talent, it's his character. I struggle to conceive the squad without him in it. I still cannot speak properly about it. It was an incredible shock for all the boys also. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it to justify results yet it's the reality. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Dealing with that emotionally is not easy. Overwhelming.”
