Grief as Popular South African DJ Shot Dead in the City of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation struggling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on a Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the 40-year-old entertainer was approached by a trio of assailants, one of whom shot at him before running away.
The purpose of the incident is unknown and no suspects have been apprehended have been made, as per the official statement.
How It Happened
Authorities indicated that Stock was attacked as he was exiting a premises near the city center landmark.
He had devoted time at the site supervising the setup of security systems, which had been reportedly taken over by unknown people, it was reported.
"It is alleged the victim was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they opened fire at him before running from the location on foot," authorities stated.
Surveillance tape showed a man with dreadlocks and clad in what looked like a protective services outfit firing shots on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ tried to run away after he was hit but collapsed across the street.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the assault.
Important clues, like bullet casings, were found at the scene.
Appeal for Witnesses
Officials are asking eyewitnesses who may have have information to come forward.
"We know they covered significant ground after the attack, and investigators have been attempting to locate them to find their destination," stated a police chief.

His family member, a close relative, stated the family was struggling to understand the tragedy.
"Words fail me. I cannot express the pain," she stated.
"We know he was a champion for numerous individuals. He spoke out bravely about issues not many people were prepared to discuss. This is a profound tragedy."
She requested the community to refrain from sharing disturbing footage from the scene, saying this was an deeply traumatic time, above all for Stock's young family.
