Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for doubts to be asked about his future following a further convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 games, representing the club's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got a lot of support from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points naturally but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “In the normal exchanges I sense the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over familiar weaknesses from his team in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell such as this with performances this poor.”

Jones stated, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to the top, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
